Project Approach

Efficient Methodology that Communicates Results at All Levels

Each Practice Manager is an expert in a subject area which includes both its business and technology impact.

Advus has found that the most effective way to assist an organization is by:

  • Providing a Discovery Assessment of need
  • Developing Strategies for Improved Performance based on your specific objectives
  • Creating a Phased Implementation Plan that includes discreet measurable projects that work within your budget and deadlines
  • Where necessary a Proof of Concept Project to address architecture and business alternatives can be executed
We employ a communications model based on the 5-level Software Engineering Institute/Capability Maturity Model (SEI/CMM) that helps you understand how Advus can assist your company in prioritizing the improvements which need to be made for desired success:

  • Level 1 – Just beginning to address an area of focus
  • Level 2 – Have made initial investments in the area of focus but return is clearly unsatisfactory
  • Level 3 – Area of focus is tactical and looking to make measurable improvements
  • Level 4 – Company is ready to push strategically forward to best-in-class solutions
  • Level 5 – Company has the goal of best-in-class and is looking to deny or leap beyond competition
This simple communications model was developed in principal by Carnegie Mellon and is used outside the software industry by the world’s greatest companies. As we implement project solutions in a number of areas, Advus utilizes metrics to help articulate continuous improvement focus for staff and executives.

Proof of Concept Project

In Advus Practice Areas like Performance-Watch™ Visual BI Dashboards, we will frequently execute a 7-step Proof of Concept project that will:
  1. Educate: Align with the key company goals/objectives for performance and risk management at whatever buyer responsibility level is sought – CxO to Functional Manager.
  2. Build: Project Sponsor Advocates, Key Stakeholder Team and IT liasions to work with Advus business experts to build prototype dashboards, secure sample data for an application or map business processes.
  3. Define: Choose/refine/weight Corporate and business function key performance indicators that will be used for the prototype dashboard or to measure business improviments.
  4. Collect: Sample information to support the prototype visual dashboard solution or benchmark results.
  5. Implement: Prototype visual dashboard for practical analysis and drill down “what if” use or newly defined business processes.
  6. Adapt: Business analysis processes to become more proactive “push” to performance/risk visualization to maximize opportunity and minimize risk.

Proof of Concept Projects can be fully functional yet not yet made available to larger groups or tightly connected to underlying data sources

      7.   Align: Production enterprise visual dashboard data sources and expand beyond prototype tools; fully adopt new business processes.
